How are data from Excel transferred to HAM OFFICE?
- In this case Heinz, DF9FD has sent us detailed instructions, which we are happy to provide: HamOffice-Daten-importieren-aus-excel.pdf
How can you set up the program to minimize the number of qrz.com queries?
- In order not to exceed the limit, the automatic qrz.com query can be switched off in HAM OFFICE (Extras - Program options - Callbook & Internet - Settings).
The query of Name & QTH can also be done manually in the additional window "QSO additional window" (QSO input - options - additional window) and in the additional window web browser (favorites "QRZ.com + current callsign")
You should also deactivate the option "Automatically fill empty fields from databases when changing" in the QSO input window under "Options - More". Läuft HAM Office auch unter Linux?
- DL3DL has compiled information about HAM Office under Linux: https://dl3dl.jimdo.com/hamoffice-linux/
Also a mail from Jürgen, DK2FI from 2011: "... just wanted to give you the information that HamOffice also runs very well under Linux with the standard Windows emulation" WINE ". Also the Callbook -CD integration in connection with HamOffice runs without problems under Linux. The configuration used was: Notebook Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600, 256 MB RAM, SuSE Linux 8.2, current version of the Wine Windows Emulator. "
TS990S settings for CAT
- we have a hint from Gerhard, DD4DA:
Another note about the settings for the TS990s - it is important that both settings: "Handshake" are set in the advanced interface settings, otherwise no data will be received. I now use the settings COM5: 9600,8, n, 1 and RTS / CTS handshake. Will the settings of the old program be adopted when switching from HAM Office 5 to the new HAM OFFICE .my logbook?
- When switching, all data from the old HAM Office 5 is transferred to the new HAM OFFICE. This also applies to the window settings, CAT, label, etc. If you work with the classic view in HAM Office 5, you will also find it in the new HAM OFFICE. Basically, after installing and transferring the data from HO5, you can start immediately in HAM OFFICE .my logbook.
Why is the annual license being advertised instead of the one-time purchase?
- It is completely understandable that the 365-day offer is not for everyone. But that's exactly why we still have the option of purchasing an upgrade with an unlimited license, as before. So for someone who doesn't like the new model, everything stays the same.
Apart from that, the new model is also quite suitable for many, which is why we introduced it. For some, it is financially advantageous if they only have to pay EUR 12 instead of EUR 45. Even if this occurs annually, it is manageable for those who have little money.
At least as important, however, are those users who wish that new, large functions would not only be added to the program in a few years' time, but more regularly if, for example, they have proposed a new function themselves. With an annual license you then have an advantage.
For us, the annual license is not a financial advantage for the foreseeable future, because we will then be challenged in a completely different way. Can it be installed on a NAS drive?
- Info from OM Kordsmeyer:
Maybe a little hint about installing the program package on a NAS drive.
This has an assigned LW letter for me, which, however, cannot be addressed when the program is installed.
But where there is a will, there is also a way:
With the IP in front it goes:\\192.168.1.100\NAS\Programs\ - or whatever the path will or is.
So I can access HO from all computers. Do the programs also run on a Mac?
- In principle, these programs are not written for the Mac, but you can work around it, as Peter, HB9TRR shows in the following:
I have been using your software, Ham Office and Ham Atlas for many years. As a Mac user, I always had the AFU programs running on a Windows laptop. That always bothered me, but I still didn't want to do without the great logbook.
In the meantime I have changed everything. I am using Parallel Desktop 11 with Windows 10 on my iMac. Your programs run excellently under this configuration and there are no problems with either the CAT control or the online connection to various clusters or e.g. QRZ.COM.Important points to consider: The Ham Office databases should also be saved on the virtual machine during installation. The browser of the virtual Windows machine must be used for the updates so that everything runs smoothly.
All programs run in the Windows window or, as I prefer, in Coherence mode.
Do the programs also run on a Windows 10?
- Info from Klaus, DK1AX about use under Win10: "On the first day when Win10 was available, I updated my laptop (HP) to Win10. I did not take the" ballast "with me and then reloaded HO5. The program runs PERFECT! I find it is much faster than Win7 and I have NOT noticed any problems ... "
I want to switch from ald Windows to a new Windows. How do I get my logbooks on the new computer so that I can continue to use the logs?
- Depending on the computer configuration, there are different ways
if the new operating system is installed on the old PC , then- back up the HAM Office data via the HAM Office menu item "Extras - Data backup - Back up data ... (Backup ) "on a stick or another hard drive. Select the data backup type "full backup".
- Check whether all data is on the stick or on the second hard drive.
- Now install the new operating system. < li> If you have only carried out an update of the operating system, HAM Office may still be on the computer afterwards. In this case, uninstall HAM Office.
- Reinstall HAM Office. We recommend the current version from www.hamoffice.de, but you can also use the CD.
- Start HAM Office and enter the old registration key.
- Call up HAM Office the menu item "Extras - OnlineUpdate" and only update the program update there. (That doesn't necessarily have to be the case, but it doesn't hurt)
- Now call the menu item "Extras - Data backup - Read data from ... (Restore)" in HAM Office and select the stick or folder there on the other hard drive on which the backup files are located. Gradually follow the steps in the backup wizard and also note how you answer the security question.
- HAM Office now reads in all old data - including all settings data - so that you can continue working with the program immediately.
- back up the HAM Office data on the old PC via the HAM Office menu item "Extras - Data backup - Data ... save (backup) "on a stick. Select the data backup type "full backup".
- Install HAM Office on the new PC. We recommend the current version from www.hamoffice.de, but you can also use the CD.
- Start HAM Office and enter the old registration key.

Now you can proceed as described above.
Rotor control for Alpha Spid?
I have a HAM Office 4 on an old PC and would like to install HAM Office on a new PC. How do I get the data into the new program?
On the old PC, first call up
Then create a data backup on this PC in HO via
How do I install two HAM Office programs on one PC?
Variant 1: During the installation of the first program, you do not specify two different folders as target directories for the program and data, but always the same folder. This folder must not be located in the main "Applications" folder. After the installation all files and folders of HAM Office are in this one folder. The program will NOT start at the end of the installation.
A new folder will now be created on the hard drive. Everything that is contained in the other folder is copied into this new folder.
You then have two folders on the hard disk, each containing all data and files.
HAM Office can now be started in each of the two folders and the relevant registry key can be entered
Variant 2: If HAM Office is already installed on the PC, then you create a new folder for the second program. This folder must not be in the main "Programs" folder.
After that, all files and folders from the installed program will be copied into this new folder. It is very likely that the program files of the existing program are in c: \ programs (x86) and the data files in "My Documents".
The new folder then contains all of the HAM Office data and files.
HAM Office can now be started in this folder. After calling up the menu item "Help - Info", the second registration key can be entered after clicking on the existing callsign.
PowerSDR and HAM Office
Steps for coupling HamOffice with PowerSDR for the various Flex TRX under Windows 7 / 32bit; for other operating systems it should work the same way:
1. Get the com0com program from the Internet, install it (see appendix) and use it to set up 1 pair of virtual com interfaces, e.g. com 7 and com 17. 2. The CAT interfaces from HamOffice and PowerSDR each offer several emulations of commercial transceivers; I have set the Kenwood TS480 in HamOffice and PowerSDR.
3. HamOffice I then assigned port com7 and PowerSDR to port 17 and that was it!
The coupling works fine in both directions.
Working with the coupled programs, on the other hand, requires special concentration because the mouse and keyboard (which are used in both programs) are only active in the program that is currently in focus; If, for example, I have just changed the frequency in PowerSDR with a mouse or keyboard and then want to enter a call in HamOffice with the keyboard, I must first transfer the focus from PowerSDR to HamOffice with a mouse click. In principle, the transfer is also quite cumbersome with ALT + Tab.
"Location" in LotW window
Frequency offset on the IC7600
Label printing with Dymo Labelwriter
The printout can then also be made from HAM Office
Telnet and Pinnacle
Hello Mr. Kohnke,
For information only, I have now solved the problem for myself, but it was very difficult and it took hours and days of reading on the Internet and trying out new options over and over again until I had the solution. Therefore, I would like to present this to you for others as a possible solution to this error message.
In the directory C: windows (also a different name depending on the operating system) system32driversetc there must be a file with the name "Protocol" with the following or similar content:
# Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This file contains the internet protocols according to
# RFC 1700 (Assigned Numbers).
# Edit this file with an ASCII editor.
#
# Format:
#
#
ip 0 IP # Internet Protocol
icmp 1 ICMP # Internet Control Message Protocol
ggp 3 GGP # Gateway-Gateway Protocol
tcp 6 TCP # Transmission Control Protocol
egp 8 EGP # Exterior Gateway Protocol
pup 12 PUP # PARC Universal Packet Protocol
udp 17 UDP # User Datagram Protocol
hmp 20 HMP # Host Monitoring Protocol
xns-idp 22 XNS-IDP # Xerox NS IDP
rdp 27 RDP # "Reliable Datagram" Protocol
rvd 66 RVD # WITH Remote Virtual Disk
because a parameter in the Windows registry refers to this file with the command "regedit" under
Hkey_local_machinesystemcurrentControlSetServices cpipparameters there is the point "DataBasePath" with the value:
"% SystemRoot% System32driversetc" and "DataBase" apparently means this protocol file. For me it was the case that this file was not in the above location but it was there, but somewhere else under C: windowssystem32driverspinnacleetc. Pinnacle is a video editing program that I use. When installing an update for this program, the file must apparently have been moved for whatever reason. After I have copied a copy of this log file into the original directory, the Telnet connection is running again under HamOffice and other programs. Small cause, big effect, probably nobody thinks of it right away, that's why I wrote it to you.
